Complex Commercial Litigation

Complex commercial litigation is one of Drew, Cooper & Anding’s primary practice areas. It involves commercial disputes which run the full gamut of business and personal endeavors. We represent both businesses and individuals in disputes that include banking, real estate, partnership disputes, supply agreements, business dissolution, business torts and fraud. Our expertise in these areas of litigation has taken us to federal and state courts across the nation, where we have secured numerous successful verdicts.

Our use of cutting edge, computerized litigation technologies to facilitate the organization and analysis of documents has allowed us to compete against the nation’s largest firms on matters of legal complexity normally reserved for firms located in large metropolitan areas. Our firm’s unique combination of expertise, size and location allows clients to optimize their results both in and out of the courtroom.

Notable Results

December 2003 - The case of Venture v Autoliv is one of the notable verdicts we have secured in the complex commercial practice area. Venture, our client, was a second-tier automotive parts supplier that brought suit against Autoliv, a first-tier supplier in the manufacture of airbags. Venture had entered into a supply contract with Autoliv and sued Autoliv for breaching that supply contract, as well as for patent infringement and misappropriation of Venture’s trade secrets. After a six-week trial in the federal district court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the jury returned a verdict of $27.5 million in Venture’s favor in December, 2003. After several hard-fought appellate victories by our firm in the Sixth Circuit and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal, the $27.5 million judgment against Autoliv became final in late 2007.
